Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kage Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kage Chiba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kage Chiba!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dean drives through and clinches with Chiba against the cage.

Dean lands with a light punch inside.

Dean breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown by Chiba or perhaps it was just good defense by Dean which made him look bad.

Dean throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Dean has clasped his hands together around Chiba's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Dean goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chiba has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dean but great work by Chiba.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chiba is working for an americana but Dean has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Chiba was thinking about the submission.

Chiba drops back looking for a leg! Dean is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dean manages to kick Chiba off! Chiba jumps back into Dean's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dean is looking for a kimura but Chiba is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dean to get the leverage.
It looks like Dean is going to stand back up.
Chiba is looking to control Dean's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chiba avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dean moves in looking to clinch but Chiba pushes him off.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Chiba is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dean doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chiba.

Chiba has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Chiba jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Dean is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Dean and Chiba has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
