Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Hunstad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago is looking to clinch but Hunstad is avoiding it.
Hunstad tries to clinch but Santiago is having none of it.

Hunstad throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Santiago was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunstad finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hunstad is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hunstad passes Santiago's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Santiago is trying to stand back up but Hunstad is controlling him
Hunstad uses his free foot to push down on Santiago's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Santiago.

Hunstad is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Santiago can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hunstad jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Santiago manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hunstad wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Santiago, who protects the arm well.
Santiago is pushing Hunstad's head away, looking to escape. Hunstad manages to hold on to the position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santiago can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hunstad is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Santiago is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunstad goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Santiago rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hunstad's guard! Nice work there by Santiago!
Santiago wanted to stand there but Hunstad had control of the position.
Santiago is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Hunstad is looking for a triangle here but Santiago uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Santiago wants to get back to his feet.

Hunstad is looking for a sweep. Santiago is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Santiago is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Santiago tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hunstad just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hunstad's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santiago tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hunstad just stands there and leans against the cage.
Santiago is looking to break free of the clinch but Hunstad has double underhooks.
Santiago jumps guard but Hunstad stands there with Santiago around his waist. Santiago gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Brian Hunstad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Santiago.
Santiago tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hunstad just stands there and leans against the cage.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Santiago pulls guard.

Hunstad drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hunstad jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hunstad postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Santiago is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hunstad, into his guard.

Hunstad is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Santiago is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Santiago is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hunstad has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Santiago is looking to defend but Hunstad has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Santiago! Hunstad pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Santiago taps out and this one is all over!
