PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Logan Strauss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strauss comes to the cage accompanied by Immigrant song-Led Zeppelin. Mcgee has chosen McGee as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Logan Strauss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Strauss working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcgee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcgee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Strauss is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mcgee drops back looking for a leg! Strauss is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Strauss manages to kick Mcgee off! Mcgee jumps back into Strauss's guard.
Strauss utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mcgee wants to control from the top but Strauss keeps moving.
Strauss is trying to keep Mcgee in close.
Strauss is really struggling to control Mcgee but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Mcgee counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mcgee is trying to control the action in half guard but Strauss is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Strauss wants to control but Mcgee is keeping busy.

Mcgee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Strauss does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mcgee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Strauss is working away from the top position though.

Mcgee feints and as Strauss raises his hands in defense, Mcgee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Logan Strauss will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mcgee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Strauss, who protects the arm well.

Strauss is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Strauss is pressing down on Mcgee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mcgee not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Strauss looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Strauss manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcgee manages to get himself to full guard.

Strauss has gone for a leg lock! Mcgee slips out almost immediately though and dives into Strauss's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcgee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Strauss is looking to improve his position but Mcgee isn't that keen on the idea.

Mcgee might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Strauss kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Timothy Mcgee.

Mcgee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Strauss swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Timothy Mcgee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mcgee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
