The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fire closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fire lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

I looks like Fire might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Fire counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Matos Viana's guard now.

Despite being in the dominant position, Lister Fire just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Fire counters with a shoot takedown. Matos Viana fights it but they end up in guard.
Fire wants to control from the top but Matos Viana keeps moving.

Matos Viana is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Fire scores with a couple of nice shots.

Well Fire has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
