The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monthan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Taylor paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Taylor connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Monthan's hands.
Monthan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taylor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Monthan somewhat.

It looks like Larry Monthan has been cut.
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Monthan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Taylor's corner calls for a 1-2. Taylor obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Monthan is defended easily by Taylor.

Taylor feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Monthan sprawling to the canvas! Monthan rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Taylor finish him?!

Taylor lands a huge takedown. Monthan is out but the ref is slow to react and Taylor lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Monthan lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
