Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Perry Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leifi Plomeros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Perry Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Leifi Plomeros!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plomeros tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cox swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cox fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Plomeros forces Cox back against the cage and clinches.

Plomeros manages to break the clinch.
Plomeros shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Cox counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Plomeros working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cox.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Plomeros swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Plomeros wants to stand but Cox is controlling the position.
Cox lands a couple of digs.
Cox throws and elbow that misses. Plomeros uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cox's guard. Nice move by Plomeros!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Plomeros is trying to control the action in half guard but Cox is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

and Cox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Plomeros's guard now.

Cox sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Plomeros's guard.
Plomeros is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cox scores with a couple of nice shots.

Plomeros struggling a bit here.
Plomeros takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cox wants to pass the guard but Plomeros is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cox accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cox throws a strike but Plomeros rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cox on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cox tries to get out of the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cox is on top in guard.

Plomeros manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Plomeros tries to clinch but Cox is having none of it.

Cox closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Plomeros did well to prevent Cox getting side control.

Cox looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Plomeros with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cox throws a strike but Plomeros avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Cox slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Plomeros wants to control but Cox postures up.
Plomeros is looking to regain half guard here but Cox keeps moving and retains side control.
Plomeros on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Cox misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cox connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Plomeros some visible discomfort.
Plomeros wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cox throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Plomeros gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Plomeros's guard now.
Cox connects with a couple of short punches.

Cox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cox tries to free his leg and advance position but Plomeros is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Plomeros misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Cox throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Plomeros was covering up waiting for the punch and Cox finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cox is looking to work some ground and pound but Plomeros has wrist control.
Cox stands up over Plomeros, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Plomeros clinches up with Cox and pushes him back against the cage.
Cox is looking to control Plomeros's arms but Plomeros gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cox has his back to the cage.

Plomeros breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Plomeros lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Plomeros utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Plomeros swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cox looks up at the clock and then as Plomeros takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cox smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Cox connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Plomeros some visible discomfort.
Cox lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Plomeros down.
Plomeros gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Plomeros manages to regain half guard. Good work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cox connects with a nice short shot to Plomeros's temple.
Perry Cox is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cox is looking to pass Plomeros's guard but actually Plomeros recovers to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Perry Cox showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cox, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
