PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo Detrezouga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lynch comes into the arena with New Noise - Refused blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Detrezouga!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Detrezouga bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Detrezouga goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lynch has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Detrezouga but great work by Lynch.
Lynch tries to advance position but instead Detrezouga slips a leg back in to half guard.

Lynch seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Detrezouga for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lynch is taking a breather. Detrezouga says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Detrezouga tries to roll over but Lynch keeps him under control.

Lynch decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lynch fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Detrezouga throws a right and a left that both miss.
Detrezouga tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lynch paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lynch misses with a few strikes there.

Detrezouga instigates a clinch.
Lynch stops a takedown attempt from Detrezouga.
Detrezouga prevents the takedown attempt.

Lynch jumps guard.
Detrezouga trying to control the position from guard on top but Lynch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lynch wants to get back to his feet but Detrezouga is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Detrezouga is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lynch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lynch has escaped and now he's on top!

Detrezouga is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lynch slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lynch pushes down on Detrezouga's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Well, if Lynch is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Detrezouga wants to control but Lynch is keeping busy.
Lynch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Detrezouga is looking for a sweep. Lynch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lynch is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Lynch tries to pass the half guard into mount. Detrezouga knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Lynch dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Detrezouga shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lynch counters with a nice double leg into side control. Detrezouga won't be happy with that.

Lynch is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Nathan Lynch just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Detrezouga gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lynch to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lynch stays in close to Detrezouga's body and controls the position.

Detrezouga had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lynch defends it easily.

Detrezouga is working an open guard so Lynch takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A nice inside leg kick there by Lynch. That's going to slow Detrezouga down.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lynch tried to score with a low kick but Detrezouga checks it.
Lynch blocks a head kick by Detrezouga.

Lynch changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Detrezouga looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lynch takes a little break here. Detrezouga wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Lynch stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lynch dives in and grabs Detrezouga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Detrezouga pushes down on Lynch's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Lynch dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Detrezouga lands with a kick to the temple. Lynch shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Nathan Lynch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Detrezouga tries to clinch but Lynch moves away

and Lynch counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lynch is stalling in the full guard.
Detrezouga tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lynch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Detrezouga tries for a takedown but Lynch circles away easily
and Lynch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Lynch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Detrezouga's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Detrezouga is trying to control the position but Lynch postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lynch passes Detrezouga's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nathan Lynch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lynch content to control rather than advance.
Detrezouga tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Lynch has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lynch is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lynch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lynch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Detrezouga can do to turn this around?

and Lynch counters with a low kick, right behind Detrezouga 's knee.
Nathan Lynch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Detrezouga.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lynch, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
