PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mari Ore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ore comes to the cage accompanied by The Pack - My Girl Got A Girl Too. Ore has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Ricky Pierre has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mari Ore's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mari Ore!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ricky Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Ore fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Pierre is out of range.
Ore throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Ore is breathing heavily.

Pierre looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
I looks like Pierre might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Pierre's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ricky Pierre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Pierre.
The ground and pound from Pierre seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Ore pushes Pierre away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pierre gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Pierre is trying to get an arm triangle but Ore is defending well.
Ore regains half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pierre is trying to control the action in half guard but Ore is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Pierre looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ore with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Pierre takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pierre is looking for a kimura but Ore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierre to get the leverage.

Pierre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ore thuds his right hand into Pierre's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ore misses with a two punch combination.
Pierre takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Pierre closes the distance and clinches.

Pierre jumps into guard, dragging Ore to the mat.

Ore drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Ore as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Pierre screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Ore! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Mari Ore!
Mari Ore retains his lightweight title!
