The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathews connects with a solid leg kick.
Bond looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Bond misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mathews decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mathews takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Bond trying to control here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mathews connects with a nice short shot to Bond's temple.
Mathews really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bond. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bond is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mathews's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mathews's back!

Bond is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Mathews knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Mathews for a finish.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bond trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Bond doesn't have the hooks in and Mathews manages to turn into his guard.
Mathews trying to control the position from guard on top but Bond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Bond closes the distance and clinches up with Mathews, looking for a takedown. Bond pushes Mathews against the cage but Mathews circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mathews moves into the clinch successfully.
Mathews prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Bond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mathews manages to pull guard.
Bond lands a couple of digs.
Bond trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bond prevents Mathews from getting back to his feet.
Bond stands and throws Mathews's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bond passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mathews!

Bond wants to finish this one by submission but Mathews is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bond.

Bond with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bond can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bond jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mathews manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Mathews is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mathews dodges the ground and pound from Mathews.

Bond has an Americana. Mathews didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bond is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bond hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
