The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sodje lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Newton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sodje was well out of range. Poor timing from Newton.
A looping hook to the body misses from Newton. Sodje does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sodje fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Newton swings for the body but Sodje moves out of range.
Newton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Newton fails to land with a series of punches.
Sodje uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Newton.
A cross from Sodje lands.
Newton is rocked!
Sodje swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sodje clobbers Newton with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Newton is still on wobbly legs! Can Sodje finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sodje walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Newton drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Sodje swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Newton's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sheriff Sodje!
