Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Monkey Luffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and abby austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). abby austin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
austin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Luffy.

Luffy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but austin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
austin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Luffy asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if austin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Luffy is trying to get an arm triangle but austin is defending well.

austin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

austin is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Luffy is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But austin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from austin!

Luffy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but austin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Luffy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Luffy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but austin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Luffy has austin in his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Luffy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

austin pushes Luffy off looking to stand but Luffy dives back in and keeps control.

Luffy looking to break austin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. austin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Luffy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
