Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Maiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucca Turpitudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turpitudo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. It Doesn't Matter - Dwayne Johnson kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Lucca Turpitudo has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Eddie Maiden's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Maiden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucca Turpitudo!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turpitudo has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Maiden scores with a jab to the jaw.

Maiden looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Turpitudo!
Maiden controlling from the full mount.
Maiden lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Maiden with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Maiden scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Maiden wants to control the pace but Turpitudo is squirming around nicely.

Turpitudo manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Turpitudo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Maiden is trying to control. Turpitudo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Maiden is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Turpitudo sees it coming and defends easily.
Maiden throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Maiden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Maiden throws a strike but Turpitudo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Maiden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Maiden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Turpitudo wants to sweep here but Maiden controlling him for the moment.
Turpitudo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Turpitudo controls Maiden momentarily but Maiden frees himself.

Turpitudo has control of Maiden's left arm, preventing Maiden from doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Maiden stopping the sweep attempt from Turpitudo.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Maiden moves in looking to clinch but Turpitudo pushes him off.
Maiden throws a right hand that Turpitudo ducks under and follows up with a left that Turpitudo also avoids with ease.
Turpitudo throws a body punch but Maiden moves out of range.
Maiden shoots in for a takedown but Turpitudo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Turpitudo shoots in but Maiden avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Turpitudo lands a body shot.
Turpitudo takes a swing at Maiden's ribcage but misses.
Maiden fails with the takedown
and Turpitudo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Turpitudo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Maiden is refusing to be controlled, as Turpitudo sits in half guard.

Maiden wants to control but Turpitudo is keeping busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Maiden is staying active underneath Turpitudo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Turpitudo is stalling here. Maiden is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Turpitudo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Maiden has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

You can see the frustration on Turpitudo's face as Maiden controls the position.
Maiden creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Maiden stands up and beckons Turpitudo to his feet.
Maiden clinches but Turpitudo breaks the clinch
and Turpitudo counters with a left and a right that stings Maiden.
Maiden shoots and misses

and Turpitudo counters with a single leg into guard. Maiden didn't expect that.

Maiden kicks Turpitudo off and gets to his feet.
Maiden tries to clinch up
and Turpitudo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Maiden tries for a takedown but Turpitudo circles away easily
and Turpitudo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Maiden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maiden is looking to clinch.
Maiden doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Turpitudo counters with a straight right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maiden tries to clinch up

Lucca Turpitudo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Turpitudo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maiden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Maiden has gone for a leg lock! Turpitudo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maiden's guard.
Eddie Maiden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maiden is adopting a defensive guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Turpitudo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turpitudo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Maiden wants to stand and escape but instead Turpitudo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Turpitudo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Turpitudo trying to control the position from guard on top but Maiden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lucca Turpitudo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Turpitudo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
