Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Berne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lance Jackson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Berne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lance Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berne shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Jackson is looking to clinch but Berne is avoiding it.
A big right from Berne misses.
Berne throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jackson sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Berne waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Jackson. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Jackson to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


It looks like Lance Jackson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Berne trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing Berne from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Jackson tries to clinch but Berne moves out of range.

Berne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Berne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Berne. Berne gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Berne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Berne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jackson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson looking to control but Berne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Berne can't escape the position.
Jackson throwing strikes here but Berne is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Berne is wriggling around trying to escape.
Berne wants to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Jackson tries to control but Berne wriggling away.
Jackson throws some wild stikes that Berne manages to avoid easily.
Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Berne is looking to escape.
Jackson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Jackson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Berne kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Berne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Berne's guard now.

Berne looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.
Berne controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Berne pulls Jackson in close to his closed guard and prevents Jackson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Berne trying to keep a closed guard but Jackson is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rodrigo Berne.

and Jackson counters by clinching up.
Berne tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jackson pushes off an throws an elbow but Berne leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Berne jumps guard but Jackson stands there with Berne around his waist. Berne gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jackson has picked Berne up - he's going for a ride! Jackson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Jackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Berne is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Berne is looking to improve his position.
Jackson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Berne tries to hold on but Jackson postures up.
Jackson tries to control but Berne wriggling away.
Berne is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jackson looking to control but Berne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Berne tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Berne regains half guard.
Jackson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Berne tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.

Berne is looking to get to half guard.
Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jackson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Berne can't fight it off and eventually Jackson manages to take the fight to the floor. Berne looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Berne passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Berne is working for a submission of some sort.

Berne works his way into side control.
Berne works to advance to full mount. Jackson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Berne's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Berne looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Berne is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jackson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jackson!

Jackson slips nicely into half guard.
Berne is staying active underneath Jackson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Berne is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Berne avoid being mounted?

Jackson is trying to control. Berne wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Berne is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Berne wants to get back to full guard.
Lance Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Berne has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.

Berne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Well, if Jackson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lance Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
