Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy NoMates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy NoMates!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas avoids the head kick by NoMates.
NoMates throws a shot from downtown. Thomas moves away and avoids it.
Paul Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Thomas gets a takedown into half guard.
NoMates moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
NoMates is trying to control the position but Thomas postures up.
Thomas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Thomas throwing strikes from guard but NoMates blocks nicely.

Thomas stays in close to NoMates's body and controls the position.

Thomas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but NoMates manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thomas has NoMates in his guard.
NoMates wants to get up but he can't break Thomas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

NoMates stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Thomas has NoMates pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Thomas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thomas connects with a nice short shot to NoMates's temple.

Thomas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
NoMates wants to get back to full guard.

Thomas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
NoMates is looking to get to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thomas trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Thomas throws and elbow that misses. NoMates uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thomas's guard. Nice move by NoMates!
NoMates looking to sit in guard and control but Thomas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

NoMates looking for a guillotine here but Thomas defends easily.

Thomas wants to stand but NoMates is controlling his posture from full guard.
Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Thomas gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Thomas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
NoMates cracks Thomas with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Thomas.
NoMates manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
NoMates is breathing heavily.

NoMates is trying to stand back up but Thomas is controlling him
Paul Thomas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Thomas closes the distance and clinches.
Thomas tries to score a body lock takedown but NoMates shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
NoMates is trying to drag Thomas to the mat but Thomas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Thomas fails to pull the fight into his guard.

NoMates ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. NoMates no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

NoMates takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

NoMates throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Thomas stands up and waves to NoMates to follow him.

and NoMates counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Thomas's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

NoMates might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Thomas kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Thomas wriggles free and stands up.
Thomas stalks NoMates and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into NoMates's face. NoMates staggers backwards, shaken.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Thomas.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

NoMates gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Thomas is really struggling to control NoMates but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

NoMates is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Billy NoMates has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Thomas lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Thomas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
NoMates wants to hold on but Thomas pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paul Thomas.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thomas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
