PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between muhammed ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silvas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wanderlei Silvas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silvas shoots in for a double leg but ali sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Silvas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
ali looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

ali shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

ali is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silvas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time ali.

ali is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Silvas pushes ali off looking to stand but ali dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with ali in particular looking to stall.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silvas tries to bum rush ali with a series of wild strikes but ali uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silvas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

ali bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
ali cracks Silvas with a big right hand but Silvas just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

ali decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silvas to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

muhammed ali overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Silvas wants to get back to his feet but ali passes into half guard.
ali stops Silvas from getting back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

ali's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

ali has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silvas uses from the top position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for ali, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
