The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russel works the jab nicely.
Russel throws a looping overhand right but Alves ducks down to avoid it.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Russel as he jumps to the side.
Russel throws the left hand but Alves avoids the punch easily.
Alves tries a head kick but it misses.
Alves slips a jab and a cross from Russel.
Russel misses with a looping left.
Alves avoids the body shot from Russel.
Alves fails with the takedown.
Jeremiah Russel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Alves.
Alves shoots in but no luck this time.
Russel misses with a wild combination.
Alves takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Russel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alves.
Nice body punch from Russel.
Alves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Russel's waist but Russel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side.
Alves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Alves looks gassed!
Russel leaves Alves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Russel drops Alves with a naaaaasty hook - Alves is in real trouble here! Russel dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
