The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishikawa throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Maserati tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ishikawa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
You get the feeling that Maserati really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Ishikawa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maserati for as long as he can get away with.

Ishikawa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Maserati.
Ishikawa feints and as Maserati raises his hands in defense, Ishikawa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Maserati throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ishikawa escapes and throws Maserati's legs to the side, diving into side control!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ishikawa remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
