Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JAY SIMPSON (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldberg comes to the cage accompanied by GOLDBERG. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JAY SIMPSON!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
SIMPSON thows a body shot but no joy.
SIMPSON avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goldberg ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Goldberg. SIMPSON does a little dance to reset his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Goldberg is defended easily by SIMPSON.
Goldberg fails with an attempt to clinch.

Goldberg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
SIMPSON gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

SIMPSON looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
SIMPSON is looking for a sweep. Goldberg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

SIMPSON looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goldberg is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and SIMPSON defends it well.
Goldberg trying to control the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Goldberg prevents SIMPSON from improving his position.

SIMPSON looking for a kimura from the bottom but Goldberg passes into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Goldberg decides to stand up, so the ref orders SIMPSON to his feet.

Goldberg takes the fight into the clinch.

Goldberg has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but SIMPSON regains guard immediately.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

SIMPSON escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goldberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Goldberg will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
SIMPSON looks gassed!
Goldberg stays in close to SIMPSON's body and controls the position.
Goldberg wants to control from the top but SIMPSON keeps moving.
Goldberg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

SIMPSON working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Goldberg has passed into half guard!
Goldberg takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

SIMPSON actively working from the bottom here.

SIMPSON is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Goldberg pulls his head out easily.

Goldberg wants to work for an arm triangle but SIMPSON is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Goldberg is trying to work for a kimura but SIMPSON is defending well.
Goldberg wants to stand up but SIMPSON is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Goldberg dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Goldberg rushes SIMPSON and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Goldberg gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

SIMPSON looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Goldberg seems to be looking for submissions.
Goldberg tries to pass to full mount but SIMPSON defends it.

SIMPSON looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
SIMPSON is breathing heavily.
Goldberg working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

SIMPSON actively working from the bottom here.
Goldberg moves into full mount! SIMPSON won't be happy about that!

It looks like JAY SIMPSON has been cut.
Goldberg lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.


That has opened up JAY SIMPSON's cut even more.
Goldberg punishing his opponent with strikes.


The cut above JAY SIMPSON's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at JAY SIMPSON's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
