Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dalia Calypso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Nickells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Nickells's choice of entrance music: Kayne West - Stronger. Dalia Calypso has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nickells shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Calypso's guard.
Calypso manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nickells manages to get himself to full guard.

Calypso stands and throws Nickells's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Calypso is keen to just control but Nickells is a slippery customer.
Calypso stalling away here and it's allowed Nickells to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Nickells wants to stand but Calypso is controlling the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Calypso gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Nickells decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Calypso's guard.

Nickells must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Calypso lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nickells!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nickells looks gassed!

Calypso is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Nickells has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Nickells!

Calypso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nickells can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Calypso throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Nickells thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Calypso is adopting a defensive guard.

Nickells avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Forrest Nickells will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Calypso has his foot on Nickells's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nickells works his way back into a safe position though.
