PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hammock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demon Jin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammock kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Office Rap. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Hammock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Demon Jin!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hammock is fending him off so far but Jin persists. Nope, Hammock circles away and we're back to standing.
Hammock lands a high kick!

Jin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hammock's guard.
Hammock tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammock has his hands on Jin's head, controlling the position.
Jin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammock manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jin can't escape the position.

Jin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Jin avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hammock.
Jin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Jin wants to get back to full guard.
Hammock is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jin!

Hammock is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jin shrugs it off.
Hammock throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Jin sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Jin has a hand on Hammock's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hammock takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hammock cracks Jin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Hammock is working for a guillotine from mount but Jin frees his head quite easily.
Jin is looking to improve his position but Hammock isn't that keen on the idea.

Hammock has hold of Jin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hammock will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jin tries to reverse the position but Hammock maintains control.
Hammock misses with a head shot.
Jin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jin is looking to improve his position but Hammock isn't that keen on the idea.

Hammock lands a big shot there that rocks Jin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Jin sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Jin is looking to control Hammock's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jin avoid being mounted?
Jin tries to roll over but Hammock keeps him under control.

Hammock wants to work for an arm triangle but Jin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Demon Jin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jin wants to pass the guard but Hammock is keeping the position.

Jin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hammock utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jin is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Hammock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jin napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Demon Jin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Demon Jin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

so Hammock counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jin is striking from the bottom but Hammock uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Hammock perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Jin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jin will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hammock slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jin wants to hit a switch here but Hammock passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jin there!

You can see the frustration on Jin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hammock is looking to take a break and control but Jin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hammock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hammock has Jin in his guard.
Jin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hammock's head.

Demon Jin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Hammock.
I think Jin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
