Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen Lil Wayne - Drop The World ft. Eminem as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Stephens slips a jab and a cross from Diaz.
Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Stephens feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Stephens changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stephens wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Stephens stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Diaz tries to bum rush Stephens with a series of wild strikes but Stephens uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diaz misses with a two punch combination.

Stephens changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Stephens is really struggling to control Diaz but he's trying to hold on to the position.

BOOM! Stephens connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Stephens avoids the attempt from Diaz to control.
Stephens lands a big shot there that rocks Diaz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Stephens is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Diaz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Diaz!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stephens moves into the clinch.

Stephens has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Diaz regains guard immediately.
Stephens missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz wants to stand up but Stephens is controlling him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stephens gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stephens got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stephens has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Stephens jumps into guard, dragging Diaz to the mat.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stephens is on top in guard.
Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stephens's guard.
Diaz lands a couple of elbows.
Diaz throws a strike but Stephens rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Stephens drops an elbow to the side of Diaz's head.

Stephens is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Stephens is very close to passing his half guard.
Stephens is just content to waste time from the top position. Diaz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stephens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Diaz has his foot on Stephens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stephens works his way back into a safe position though.

Nate Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Diaz misses with a combination

and Stephens counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Stephens is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stephens looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Stephens winds up and cracks Diaz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Stephens moves into full mount! Diaz won't be happy about that!

Diaz is staying active underneath Stephens, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Diaz manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Diaz is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Stephens is tapping! Great win for Diaz!
