PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Ruffini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konstantin Gluhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruffini connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gluhov. Gluhov circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

It looks like Konstantin Gluhov has been cut.

Ruffini gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gluhov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gluhov trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruffini is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gluhov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ruffini is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gluhov, into his guard.
Gluhov looking for a sweep. Not yet Gluhov, not yet.
Ruffini is looking to stand up but Gluhov won't let him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gluhov is on top in guard.

Gluhov passes Ruffini's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ruffini is looking to escape.
Gluhov wants to take a breather but Ruffini is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruffini is trying to stand up here but Gluhov is controlling him well.
Gluhov misses with a head shot. Ruffini uses the momentum to regain guard.
Gluhov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ruffini scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gluhov.

Gluhov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ruffini knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gluhov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ruffini keeps working.

Gluhov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ruffini has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ruffini is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gluhov is controlling him well.

Gluhov has hold of Ruffini's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ruffini tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gluhov cranks the arm and Ruffini screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ruffini, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
