Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Omaly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Barrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Omaly comes to the cage accompanied by Outside - To Forgive but not Forget . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Omaly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rob Barrington!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Omaly gets a takedown into half guard.

Omaly is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Omaly seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barrington does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Omaly wants to pass to mount but Barrington is defending the position.
Barrington is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barrington looks like he's trying to stand up.
Omaly is keen to just control but Barrington is a slippery customer.

Omaly is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barrington has managed to free his arm - good work.

Barrington is looking to escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Omaly closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Omaly lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Omaly is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Barrington is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Omaly has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Omaly won't allow Barrington to get back to his feet.
Barrington is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Omaly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Omaly drops back, looking for a kneebar! Barrington looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Barrington looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Barrington!
Omaly tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barrington wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Omaly here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Omaly throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barrington was covering up waiting for the punch and Omaly finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omaly is really struggling to control Barrington but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Omaly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barrington swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barrington connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Omaly some visible discomfort.
Omaly takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Barrington tries to score with some ground and pound. Omaly controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Omaly is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Barrington reverses the position - he's now on top in Omaly's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Omaly is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well Omaly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
