The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Massey looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wilkins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Massey.
Wilkins is trying to maintain the position but Massey is very close to passing his half guard.
Wilkins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

so Massey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wilkins is trying to control the position but Massey postures up.
Massey chips away with some ground and pound.

Massey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wilkins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Massey, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wilkins might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Massey kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wilkins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Massey defends it easily.
Wilkins is breathing heavily.

Massey cracks Wilkins with a solid left hand.
Massey wants to control from the top but Wilkins keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Massey takes the fight into the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Wilkins working aggressively here.

Massey has picked Wilkins up - he's going for a ride! Massey dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Massey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wilkins is just riding it out for now. Massey eventually gives up the hold.

Wilkins is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Massey slips nicely into half guard.
Massey perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Wilkins is looking to control Massey's arms but Massey gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wilkins has his back to the cage.
Wilkins tries to score a body lock takedown but Massey shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Massey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wilkins manages to get himself to full guard.

Massey is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wilkins is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wilkins has escaped and now he's on top!

Massey has his feet on Wilkins's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Massey is taking a breather. Wilkins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
