Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sanius Viver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanius Viver will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sanius Viver!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Viver throws a right and a left that Ishikawa avoids nicely.

Viver gets caught flat footed, as Ishikawa shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ishikawa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Viver is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Viver has escaped and now he's on top!
Viver would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Viver gets to his feet. Ishikawa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ishikawa blocks a head kick by Viver.
Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Viver sprawls well. Viver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ishikawa gets slowly back to his feet.
Ishikawa is looking to clinch but Viver is avoiding it.

Viver throws a hook but Ishikawa avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ishikawa.
Viver throws a series of punches but Ishikawa moves out of range.
Viver fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ishikawa moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Ishikawa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ishikawa wants to control from the top but Viver keeps moving.

Ishikawa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Viver dives on top into guard.

Viver wants to stand and escape but instead Ishikawa has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Viver is looking to stand up but Ishikawa isn't so interested in that idea.
Ishikawa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Viver looks gassed!
Ishikawa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ishikawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Viver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ishikawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Viver swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Viver keeping moving, preventing Ishikawa from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ishikawa is looking to clinch.
No joy there for Viver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A head kick misses from Viver.
Viver is looking to land body kicks.
Viver is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ishikawa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Viver sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ishikawa somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Ishikawa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Viver throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ishikawa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Viver is fending him off so far but Ishikawa persists. Nope, Viver circles away and we're back to standing.
Viver moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akira Ishikawa will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Viver swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ishikawa shoots in but no luck this time.

Viver throws a right and a left that Ishikawa avoids nicely.
Left hook, right uppercut from Viver.
Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Viver connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ishikawa's hands.
Viver throws a right hand that Ishikawa ducks under and follows up with a left that Ishikawa also avoids with ease.
Ishikawa shoots for a double leg takedown but Viver sprawls well. He's pushed Ishikawa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ishikawa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Viver.
Viver throws a head kick that misses.
Ishikawa slips a straight right by Viver.
Viver throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ishikawa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Viver throws out the jab.
Sanius Viver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ishikawa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Viver sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ishikawa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ishikawa is working for a guillotine from mount but Viver frees his head quite easily.
Ishikawa misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Ishikawa wants to control the pace but Viver is squirming around nicely.
Ishikawa wants to control the action but instead Viver gets a body lock and reverses into Ishikawa's guard! Nice work!

Viver got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ishikawa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Viver has managed to get both his arms back between Ishikawa's legs - danger averted.
Ishikawa is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Viver wants to stand but Ishikawa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ishikawa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Viver is one step ahead there.
Ishikawa wants to improve his position but instead Viver has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Viver postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ishikawa to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ishikawa moves out of range as Viver strikes.
Viver moves out of range of the body kick.

Ishikawa feints and as Viver raises his hands in defense, Ishikawa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ishikawa has gone for a leg lock! Viver slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ishikawa's guard.
Ishikawa striking off his back but it's not causing Viver any problems.
Viver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ishikawa is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sanius Viver will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Ishikawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Viver tries to avoid it but Ishikawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Viver to the ground. Viver escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A slow jab from Viver misses its intended target.
Viver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ishikawa moves away.

and Ishikawa counters with a solid body kick.
Akira Ishikawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ishikawa misses with a takedown attempt - Viver sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Viver misses with a hook. Ishikawa ducked under it nicely.
Ishikawa keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Viver.
No luck for Ishikawa with that takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Viver throws a lazy right hand but Ishikawa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Viver misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Viver sprawls well. Viver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ishikawa gets slowly back to his feet.

and Ishikawa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Viver!

Ishikawa is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Viver is surviving well by controlling Ishikawa's body position as best he can.
Ishikawa fails to move to back control.

Ishikawa has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Viver's face.
Ishikawa can't control as he wanted to and Viver manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Ishikawa trying to advance position but Viver counters by regaining guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ishikawa wants to control from the top but Viver keeps moving.
Ishikawa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akira Ishikawa showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ishikawa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
