PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Booze Hound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Kilmartin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Booze Hound!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Kilmartin!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hound feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hound's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kilmartin is trying to keep Hound in close.
Hound has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kilmartin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kilmartin wants to stand but Hound is controlling the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kilmartin throws a front kick that sends Hound stumbling back into the cage.
Hound takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Kilmartin fails in his attempt to clinch.
An inside leg kick from Hound misses.

Hound tries to clinch there but Kilmartin circles away.

Hound shoots in and bounces Kilmartin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kilmartin controls Hound momentarily but Hound frees himself.
Kilmartin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hound wants to control from the top but Kilmartin keeps moving.
Hound seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hound decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kilmartin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hound shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kilmartin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hound slows the pace down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kilmartin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hound has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Hound looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Hound stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Hound is breathing heavily.
Hound is looking to score with low kicks.
Kilmartin wants to clinch but Hound slips to the side

and Hound counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hound wants to stand up but Kilmartin has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Kilmartin trying to hold on to Hound's head to control him but Hound postures up.
Hound prevents Kilmartin from improving his position.
Kilmartin is trying to stand back up but Hound is controlling him
Hound is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Hound throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kilmartin is trying to stand up here but Hound is controlling him well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hound jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hound tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kilmartin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hound changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kilmartin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hound decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kilmartin throws a head kick that misses.
Kilmartin lands with a slapping head kick.
Terry Kilmartin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilmartin throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hound moves in looking to clinch but Kilmartin pushes him off.

Hound shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kilmartin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kilmartin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hound is one step ahead there.
Kilmartin keeping moving, preventing Hound from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hound tries to free his leg and advance position but Kilmartin is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booze Hound dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kilmartin tries a head kick but it misses.

Hound bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kilmartin wants to get back to his feet.
Hound is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Hound working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kilmartin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Hound wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kilmartin keeps working.

Kilmartin tries to kick Hound off but Hound keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hound is pressing down on Kilmartin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kilmartin is holding on for now.
Kilmartin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hound is working away from the top position though.

Hound is trying to work for a kimura but Kilmartin is defending well.

Hound is keen to just control but Kilmartin is a slippery customer.

Hound stands up and beckons Kilmartin to join him on the feet.

Hound closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hound lands in his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booze Hound dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kilmartin thumps Hound with a low kick.
Kilmartin tries a head kick but it misses.
Kilmartin scores with a leg kick.
Hound stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kilmartin.

Hound shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hound was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kilmartin tries to lock up and control but Hound gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kilmartin is trying to escape the mount.
Kilmartin is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Hound is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hound tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kilmartin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hound shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kilmartin's guard.

Hound gets to his feet. Kilmartin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hound cracks Kilmartin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Hound darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Booze Hound overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hound is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hound won't allow Kilmartin to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hound moves into the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Kilmartin.

Hound gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kilmartin regains guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hound shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hound showed some decent athleticism there.
Kilmartin is trying to stand up here but Hound is controlling him well.

Hound wants to work for an arm triangle but Kilmartin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hound, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
