The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pellegrini takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Ken Maxwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maxwell slips a jab and a cross from Pellegrini.
Pellegrini lands with a kick to the temple. Maxwell shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Maxwell takes a swing at Pellegrini's ribcage but misses.
Maxwell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pellegrini has time to react.

Maxwell avoids a punch combination nicely.
No luck for Pellegrini with that takedown attempt.
Maxwell scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pellegrini misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Maxwell crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Pellegrini - the referee stops the clock and Maxwell gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Pellegrini. Maxwell manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Pellegrini holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Maxwell is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Pellegrini tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Maxwell smiles and moves away.

and Maxwell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pellegrini thinking.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maxwell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pellegrini doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maxwell.
Pellegrini seems to have recovered his senses.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maxwell in particular looking to stall.
