And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bowell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Bowell finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bowell defends well.

Bowell is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bowell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Silva's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Silva's back!

Bowell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Silva gets full guard.
Silva looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bowell has picked Silva up and slammed him! Silva can't keep hold of the triangle and Bowell manages to pass to side control!
Bowell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bowell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
Bowell has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Silva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Bowell's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Silva is looking for a sweep. Bowell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bowell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Silva wants to improve his position but Bowell is controlling well.
Bowell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bowell has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Silva defend it? Bowell steps over the head and cranks it - Silva is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Bowell!
