PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Solih (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Jo Jabs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Solih!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jo Jo Jabs!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solih will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Solih throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Solih shoots in but Jabs avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jabs is looking to clinch but Solih is avoiding it.
Jabs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Solih drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jabs throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Solih advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jabs tries to buck Solih off but Solih is having none of it.
Jabs is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Jabs takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jabs takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Solih has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jabs looks gassed!
Jabs is working to avoid the ground and pound but Solih connects with a decent elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solih creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Solih working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Solih trying to control the action but Jabs is working from the bottom.

Solih decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jabs to his feet.

Solih rushes Jabs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jabs is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Solih is keeping busy.
Solih is pressed up against the cage. Jabs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Solih down to the mat. Solih avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Solih's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Solih duly obliges.
Jabs throws a right and a left that both miss.

Solih drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Solih might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Solih tries to free his leg and advance position but Jabs is retaining full guard.
Jabs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Solih manages to get himself to full guard.
Solih on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Solih tries to get out of the position.
Jabs scoring with punches to the head and body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jabs slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jabs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Jabs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Solih doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jabs.
Jabs stalling.
Jabs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Solih knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jabs connects with a nice short shot to Solih's temple.
Jabs winds up and cracks Solih with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Solih wants to get back to full guard.
Jabs seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Solih does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Solih kicks off Jabs and gets to his feet.
Solih misses with a double jab.
Solih throws a series of punches but Jabs avoids them all with ease.

Solih closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Solih is nestled in close to Jabs, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Solih moves nicely into side control.
Jabs takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Solih scores with punches from side control.
Solih is working Jabs over with some ground and pound from side control.


Jabs is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jabs is still in real trouble! Can Solih finish him?
Jabs manages to get back to half guard.
Jabs seems to have recovered his senses.
Solih prevents Jabs from standing back up.
Solih wants to free his trapped foot but Jabs is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Solih stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Solih throws an overhand right that lands on Jabs's shoulder, as Jabs tries to avoid the shot.

Solih darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jabs tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Jabs missing with punches from the bottom.
Jabs wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Solih throws a strike but Jabs avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Jabs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jabs managing to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Solih dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jabs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jabs closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Solih to the mat! Solih manages to get full guard.

Solih working for a triangle but Jabs defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Solih is on top in guard.
Solih stopping the sweep attempt from Jabs.

Solih drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Solih as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jabs screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Solih! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Tim Solih!
