The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stokes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stokes misses with a body shot.

Boon closes the distance and pushes Stokes back into the cage.
Boon stalls.
Stokes stops a takedown attempt from Boon.

Boon manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stokes forces his way into half guard.
Boon is looking to improve his position.
Stokes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Stokes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stokes is trying to control. Boon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Stokes trying to mount his opponent but Boon defends it.
Stokes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stokes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Boon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Boon tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stokes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Marcus Stokes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Boon scores with a four punch combination!

Stokes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stokes looks gassed!

Stokes goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Boon rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stokes's guard! Nice work there by Boon!

Boon cracks Stokes with a solid left hand.
Boon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boon throws a strike but Stokes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Stokes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Boon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stokes, into his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Boon stands up and waves to Stokes to follow him.
Stokes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Boon has managed to clinch.
Stokes is looking to break free of the clinch but Boon has double underhooks.
Stokes takes a knee right on the jaw!

Boon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Boon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Stokes napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Boon postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Boon trying to control the position but Stokes is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Boon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Stokes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Stokes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Boon misses with a hook.
Stokes has his takedown stuffed

and Boon counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Well, if Boon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Stokes keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stokes is staying active underneath Boon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stokes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Boon.
Boon throwing shots but Stokes is blocking nicely.
Boon with the ground and pound but Stokes uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Boon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stokes is proving hard to escape from.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Boon stands up from Stokes's guard - Boon perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stokes digs a good body shot into Boon's ribs.
Daniel Boon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stokes.
Stokes advances nicely into full mount.

Boon tries to hold on but Stokes pushes him away.

Boon defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stokes.
Stokes prevents Boon from getting the reversal.

Stokes working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Boon turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Stokes off and cradles Boon's limp body as Stokes celebrates with his corner.
