PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Uki Goshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uki Goshi had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goshi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Colt is looking for a triangle but Goshi pushes his legs off easily.
Colt looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Goshi passes into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Colt tries to clinch up but Goshi circles away and keeps his distance.

Goshi feints and as Colt raises his hands in defense, Goshi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Goshi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Colt has his foot on Goshi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goshi works his way back into a safe position though.

Goshi decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Goshi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Colt takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Goshi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Colt to the mat! Colt manages to get full guard.

Colt can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goshi controls the pace.

Goshi passes Colt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Goshi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Colt regains half guard.

Colt makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Goshi shoots for a takedown but Colt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Colt doesn't manage to clinch there - Goshi circles away.

Goshi shoots in for a double leg but Colt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Colt fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Goshi.
Colt moves in looking to clinch but Goshi pushes him off.

Goshi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Goshi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Colt keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goshi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Goshi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Colt smiles and moves away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Goshi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Colt won't allow Goshi to sweep him here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Goshi is on top in guard.

Colt is striking off his back. Goshi thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Uki Goshi will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Goshi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Colt finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Colt.
Goshi tries to clinch there but Colt circles away.
Colt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Goshi's waist but Goshi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Colt off to one side.

Uki Goshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Colt.
Colt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Goshi has Colt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Colt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Colt digs a right hand into Goshi's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Goshi's gas tank.

Uki Goshi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Goshi is looking to reverse the position.
Colt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goshi keeps working.
Goshi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Colt off and has taken his back!
Goshi connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Colt to escape the position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Colt is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Colt is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Goshi is controlling him well.
Colt takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Colt tries to buck Goshi off but Goshi is having none of it.

Colt throws a few rabbit punches from the bottom. Goshi was waiting for it though - now Colt's arm is in the perfect position for an arm triangle - he's tightening it up and Colt is forced to tap out before he takes a nap! Very clever counter grappling there from Goshi!
