Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Godfathers A Chode!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Zaginho!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chode shoots in and bounces Zaginho off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Chode throwing strikes but missing.
Chode lands a couple of elbows.

Zaginho is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Zaginho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chode defends well.
Chode passes Zaginho's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Chode is looking for a kimura but Zaginho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chode to get the leverage.
Chode not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chode seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zaginho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Chode is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Zaginho has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Chode is breathing heavily.

Zaginho tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Chode wants to finish this one by submission but Zaginho is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Chode.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chode connects with a nice short shot to Zaginho's temple.

Zaginho keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Chode is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Zaginho is surviving well by controlling Chode's body position as best he can.
Zaginho takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Zaginho is trying desperately to improve position.

Zaginho sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chode shoots in for a takedown but Zaginho shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Chode takes a swing at Zaginho's ribcage but misses.

Chode closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Zaginho tries to bench press Chode off him but Chode keeps the position.

Chode is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zaginho is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Zaginho is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chode passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Zaginho!

Chode cracks Zaginho with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Zaginho from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Chode is trying to stick to Zaginho's back but Zaginho is turning into Chode. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chode's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Zaginho.

Chode has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Zaginho doesn't defend quickly enough and Chode has managed to lock this one up! Can Zaginho escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Chode on a fantastic submission victory.
