PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Yoho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chol Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Yoho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chol Uno!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yoho bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Yoho wants to lay and pray for a moment but Uno keeps working.

Yoho is trying to get an arm triangle but Uno is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Uno defending against the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yoho tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Uno tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yoho wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Yoho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Uno on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Yoho stands up.
Uno shoots and misses

and Yoho decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Uno's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yoho trying to control the position from guard on top but Uno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yoho is looking to stand up but Uno won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Yoho dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Yoho feints and as Uno raises his hands in defense, Yoho changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yoho trying to control the position from guard on top but Uno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kenny Yoho.
Yoho shoots and misses

and Uno counters with a takedown into side control.

Uno goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Yoho has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Uno but great work by Yoho.
Uno regains half guard there - taking advantage of Yoho's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Yoho wants to work for an arm triangle but Uno is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Uno is not content to let Yoho control the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Uno manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Uno is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Uno looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yoho lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Yoho trying to control the position from guard on top but Uno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yoho working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Uno's head.

Uno is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Yoho is aware though and is defending well.

Uno is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Uno keeping moving, preventing Yoho from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chol Uno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Yoho's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Uno tries for a takedown but Yoho circles away easily

and Yoho counters with a nice double leg into side control. Uno won't be happy with that.

Yoho is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Uno is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Yoho will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Yoho taking a break here but Uno is having none of it and regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yoho is looking for a kimura here.

Uno looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Uno is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yoho pulls his head out easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yoho is keen to just control but Uno is a slippery customer.
Uno won't allow Yoho to pass to mount.
Uno regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Yoho drops back, looking for a kneebar! Uno looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Uno looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Uno!

Uno has hold of Yoho's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Yoho seems comfortable defending it but Uno has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Yoho is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Yoho is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Uno couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chol Uno!
