Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santana has chosen manly euro techno as his entrance music. Carlos Santana is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Santana!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Santana shoots in and bounces Johnson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Santana isn't so interested in that idea.

Santana drops back looking for a leg! Johnson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnson manages to kick Santana off! Santana jumps back into Johnson's guard.
Johnson can't keep his opponent in guard - Santana advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Santana tries to pass to full mount but Johnson defends it.

Santana is looking for a kimura here.

Santana is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Santana eventually gives up the hold.
Santana is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Santana content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Johnson won't allow Santana to pass to mount.
Johnson wants to control but Santana is keeping busy.

Santana is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Johnson kicks Santana off and gets back to his feet.

Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santana doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santana manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Santana stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Santana postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santana, into his guard.
Santana looks gassed!
Johnson works over Santana with some ground and pound from guard.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santana on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Santana dominated that round.
That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Johnson misses with a wild combination.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Santana avoids nicely.
Johnson darts in trying to clinch

and Santana counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.
Santana passes Johnson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Santana looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Santana looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Johnson is in trouble now - Santana has advanced to mount!
Santana is breathing heavily.

Santana is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Johnson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Santana's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson regains half guard.
Santana wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it.
Santana throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Santana is keen to just control but Johnson is a slippery customer.
Johnson is trying to control but Santana passes into side control!
Johnson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Santana has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Santana stands up.

Santana looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Johnson!
Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Santana's attempts to control the action.
Santana with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Santana gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Johnson shoots and misses

and Santana counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard.

Santana stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position.

Johnson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Santana off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Santana closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Santana not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Johnson is not content to let Santana control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Santana showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Johnson is looking to clinch but Santana is avoiding it.

Santana throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Santana finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Carlos Santana has got the better of the ground game so far.

Santana gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Santana counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Johnson is refusing to be controlled, as Santana sits in half guard.
Santana stops Johnson from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Santana tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Santana works his way into side control.

Santana has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Johnson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Santana yanks on the arm and Johnson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Santana.
