PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Temujin Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KO ZIX (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black comes to the cage accompanied by Dropkick murphys - drink and fight. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Black.
ZIX misses with a double jab.
ZIX throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
ZIX throws a nice looking combination but Black bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by ZIX!
ZIX fails with an attempt to clinch.
Black avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
ZIX tries to close the distance and clinch but Black swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
ZIX misses with a series of wild punches.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Black throws a hook to the side of ZIX's head but ZIX sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
ZIX slaps away a takedown attempt from Black, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Black has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Black throws a combination but it was largely blocked by ZIX.
ZIX misses with a two punch combination.
Black shoots in for a takedown but ZIX shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
ZIX scores with a one two! Black had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
ZIX scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Black has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Black looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Black is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
ZIX is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Black has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but ZIX regains guard immediately.
Black controls from within his opponent's guard.
ZIX is looking to stand up but Black isn't so interested in that idea.
ZIX wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Black manages to pass to side control.

Black is sneakily working for an arm triangle but ZIX sees it coming and defends easily.

Black lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Black closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
ZIX is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Black asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Black remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

ZIX is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Black has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Black has hold of ZIX's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! ZIX tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Black cranks the arm and ZIX screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from ZIX, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
