PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Son (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Son comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I WILL BE HEARD kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Pearce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Son!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Son as Pearce shoots in.
Son looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pearce shoots in looking for a takedown. Son tries to sprawl out of it but Pearce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Son manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pearce tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A head kick misses from Son.
Pearce shoots in and drives through. Son sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Pearce. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A left and a right from Pearce both land. Nice combination.
Son swings for the body but Pearce moves out of range.
Son throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like Daniel Pearce has been cut.

Pearce drives through and clinches with Son against the cage.
Son with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Son throws a knee to the head but misses.
Pearce wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Son is working for takedown but Pearce is calmly controlling the position for now.

Pearce jumps guard and drags Son to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Pearce had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Son is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pearce Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Son's back instead.

Son rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Pearce seems to have got his legs back now.
Son has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Son is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Son manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pearce's guard. Nice work there by Son.

Pearce is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pearce working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pearce blocks the strikes from Son.
Pearce works his foot free and advances to mount.
Son tries to reverse the position but Pearce maintains control.

Son is trying desperately to improve position.
Pearce looking to control but Son is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Son is desperately trying to improve his position but Pearce has a good base and remains in mount.
Pearce lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearce tries to control but Son wriggling away.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Pearce looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Son tries to get to full guard but Pearce has control of the leg.

Son tries to roll over but Pearce keeps him under control.
Pearce throwing shots but Son is blocking nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Son is looking for a sweep. Pearce is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pearce tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Son.

Pearce is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pearce tries to keep at a distance but Son has taken the fight into the clinch.
Son throws a knee to the head but misses.
Son looking to throw knees to the head but Pearce is blocking nicely.

with the fighters clinched against the cage, Son creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Pearce uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Son.

Son closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Son has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pearce uses from the top position.
Son has a closed guard, preventing Pearce from standing up.

Pearce stands and steps away. Son gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pearce blocks a head kick by Son.
Son fails with the takedown.

Son lands a big shot that drops Pearce! Can he finish him?

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jeez, Daniel Pearce's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Daniel Pearce's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
