Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zackery Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Connor has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Zackery Woods's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zackery Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Connor!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor misses with a two punch combination.
Connor tries to clinch there but Woods circles away.
Connor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Woods moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Connor stuffs the takedown.
Connor tries a head kick but it misses.
Woods changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Connor tries to avoid it but Woods manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Connor to the ground. Connor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Connor throws a chopping leg kick but Woods manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Woods looks for a takedown but Connor sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zackery Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Connor moves in looking to clinch but Woods pushes him off.

Connor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Connor lands in his opponent's guard.

Connor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Woods is looking for a sweep.
Woods takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Connor decides to stand back up. Connor steps back and let's Woods get back to his feet.

John Connor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woods misses the shot to the body.

Woods feints and as Connor raises his hands in defense, Woods changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Woods frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Woods lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Connor hang on?
Connor is looking to improve his position but Woods isn't that keen on the idea.

Woods looking for a guillotine from mount but Connor is having none of it.
Connor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Woods. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's time! Woods's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Woods is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Connor has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Connor!

Woods has his foot on Connor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Connor works his way back into a safe position though.

Woods escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Connor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Woods stands up and beckons Connor to join him on the feet.
Connor looks to land a combination. Woods sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Woods fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Connor sprawls well initially but Woods persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Woods is looking to stall here but Connor recovers full guard.

Woods drops back, looking for a kneebar! Connor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Connor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Connor!

Connor is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Connor wants to get up but he can't break Woods's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Woods thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Woods manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Woods takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
