PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hollis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sehanine Moonbow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hollis comes to the cage accompanied by UGK - Pocket Full of Stones. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Sehanine Moonbow was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hollis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sehanine Moonbow!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moonbow blocks a jab.
Hollis keeps the fight on the outside.
Hollis avoids the body shot from Moonbow.
No luck for Moonbow with that takedown attempt.
Moonbow fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moonbow has a takedown stuffed.
Joe Hollis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sehanine Moonbow.

Hollis lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hollis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Moonbow fails in his attempt to clinch.
Moonbow tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hollis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Joe Hollis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Moonbow looks for a takedown but Hollis sprawls well.
Hollis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hollis throws a hook but Moonbow blocks it.
Moonbow shoots in for a takedown but Hollis shows good takedown defense.
Moonbow takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hollis scores with a jab. Moonbow acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Moonbow displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hollis throws out the jab.
Hollis throws out a loose jab but Moonbow uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moonbow shoots in but no luck this time.
Hollis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice uppercut there from Hollis.
A punch combination from Hollis misses.
Moonbow will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hollis scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Hollis bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Moonbow's head backwards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moonbow takes a shot right to the bread basket.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hollis darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hollis scores with a jab to the body.
Hollis works over Moonbow's head and body with a nice combination.
Hollis misses with a straight left.
Hollis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Good work by Moonbow as he checks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Hollis dominated that round.
That's time! Hollis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hollis connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Joe Hollis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hollis cracks Moonbow with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hollis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Moonbow slips a straight right by Hollis.
Nice takedown defense from Hollis. No joy for Moonbow on that attempt.
Hollis throws a lazy right hand but Moonbow sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hollis lands a glancing blow to the side of Moonbow's head.
Hollis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Hollis loads up on a big right hand but Moonbow slips the punch.
Hollis misses with a wild body shot.
Hollis catches Moonbow with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hollis throws an overhand right that lands on Moonbow's shoulder, as Moonbow tries to avoid the shot.
A swing and a miss from Hollis.
Moonbow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hollis tries to avoid it but Moonbow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hollis to the ground. Hollis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hollis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moonbow uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hollis.
Hollis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Moonbow blocks a leg kick.
Hollis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Moonbow moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hollis missing with a left hand there. Moonbow was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Joe Hollis is winning the standup battle so far.
Hollis throws a hook but Moonbow blocks it.

Moonbow shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hollis regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Moonbow.
Moonbow in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Moonbow postures up.
Hollis is really struggling to control Moonbow but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hollis seems keen to control Moonbow's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moonbow throwing strikes but missing.
Moonbow won't allow Hollis to get back to his feet.
Hollis is pulling down on Moonbow's head. It's preventing any offense from Moonbow, at least for the moment.

Moonbow stands and steps away. Hollis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Moonbow throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Hollis dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Hollis misses with a hook.
Horrible takedown by Moonbow or perhaps it was just good defense by Hollis which made him look bad.

Moonbow drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moonbow lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Moonbow decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Moonbow takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Moonbow shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

A jab from Hollis misses.
Hollis lands a jab to the nose.
Hollis throws a sloppy body shot
and Moonbow counters with a stiff right hand.
Moonbow walks into a jab.
Hollis misses with an uppercut

and Moonbow counters with a takedown into side control.
Hollis is trying to get back to his feet.

Hollis sneaks out the side door and pushes Moonbow away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Hollis throws a lazy uppercut
and Moonbow counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hollis misses with a left hand

and Moonbow counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hollis looking for a sweep. Not yet Hollis, not yet.
Moonbow postures up in Hollis's guard and throws a big left but Hollis blocks it.
Hollis wants to stand and escape but Moonbow is having none of it.
Hollis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hollis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Moonbow working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moonbow throwing strikes from guard but Hollis blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moonbow throws a strike but Hollis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Moonbow wants to improve his position but instead Hollis has moved into half guard.
Hollis prevents Moonbow from improving his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hollis misses with an uppercut
and Moonbow counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hollis thinking.
Hollis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hollis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Moonbow ducks under a wild hook from Hollis.
Moonbow shoots in for a takedown but Hollis shows good takedown defense.
Hollis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Moonbow.
Moonbow takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hollis misses with a lunging right hand

and Moonbow counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Moonbow.
Sehanine Moonbow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hollis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sehanine Moonbow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hollis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
