Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ace Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okabe gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ventura throws a leg kick which misses Okabe's front leg but catches the back leg as Okabe tries to avoid it.
Okabe throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ventura displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Okabe.
Okabe fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ventura uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Okabe.

Okabe throws a hook to the side of Ventura's head but Ventura sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Okabe stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ventura.
Ventura throws the kick towards the body but Okabe avoids it.

Ventura gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Okabe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Okabe is fighting to break Ventura's control of his arms but Ventura is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Ventura lands with a nice combination. Okabe backs away looking to recover.
Kenji Okabe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ventura tries a head kick but it misses.
Ventura paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ventura fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Okabe.

Okabe shoots for a double leg takedown but Ventura sprawls well. He's pushed Okabe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Okabe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ventura was well out of range. Poor timing from Okabe.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's time! Okabe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ventura pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ventura throws a chopping leg kick but Okabe manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Ventura feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Okabe's calf.
Ventura throws a low kick but it's checked well by Okabe.

and Ventura counters with a nice low kick that buckles Okabe's knee momentarily.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ventura lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Okabe has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Okabe and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Okabe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ventura looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
