Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Rossi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Gurgel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurgel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rossi sprawls well. Rossi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gurgel gets slowly back to his feet.
Gurgel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rossi as he jumps to the side.
Gurgel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rossi moves into the clinch successfully.
Gurgel tries for a takedown. No joy.
John Rossi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Gurgel.
Gurgel looks gassed!
Gurgel has Rossi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rossi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rossi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Rossi is trying to maintain a safe position but Gurgel gets an underhook and turns Rossi into the cage.
Gurgel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rossi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rossi stalls.
Rossi is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Rossi breaks from the clinch.

Rossi darts in and clinches Gurgel up against the cage.

Rossi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rossi pushes Gurgel up against the cage in a clinch.

Rossi manages to break the clinch.

Rossi drives through and clinches with Gurgel against the cage.

Rossi closes the distance and pushes Gurgel back into the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Rossi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rossi has closed the distance and engaged Gurgel in a clinch.
Rossi unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gurgel lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Rossi breaks from the clinch.

Rossi rushes Gurgel and presses him up against the cage.
A short uppercut from Rossi.
Rossi prevents a takedown attempt there.

Rossi breaks the clinch.

Rossi drives through and clinches with Gurgel against the cage.

Rossi pulls guard effortlessly.

Gurgel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rossi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gurgel has Rossi in his guard.
Rossi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rossi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Rossi stands up and waves to Gurgel to follow him.

Rossi lands a big head kick that sends Gurgel tumbling to the mat! Rossi takes a step backwards and waves Gurgel back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Gurgel is rocked!

It looks like Rob Gurgel has been cut.
Rossi lands with a right and another and another! Gurgel is in big trouble! Rossi lands again and this time it's lights out for Gurgel! A quality knockout there for Rossi.
