Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huell Howser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huell Howser has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Huell Howser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gabriel Caine!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howser changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Caine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Howser misses with the ground and pound.
An elbow from Howser crashes against the mat.

Howser wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Caine, who protects the arm well.
Caine tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Howser easily slips into full mount!
Caine is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Caine is rocked!
Caine wants to control but Howser is having none of it.
Caine can't escape the position.
Howser thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Caine tries to hold on but Howser postures up.
Caine holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Howser tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Howser postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Caine looks a forlorn figure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Howser counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Caine lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Howser!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Caine tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Caine is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Howser can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Howser is squirming around, avoiding Caine's attempts to control the action.
Caine might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Howser kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gabriel Caine just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Caine throws a looping overhand right but Howser ducks down to avoid it.

and Howser counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Howser counters with a nice double leg into side control. Caine won't be happy with that.
Huell Howser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Caine.
Howser misses with the ground and pound.
The strikes coming from Howser are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Howser lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Caine down.

Howser thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Caine makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Caine.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howser accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close second round but I would say that Huell Howser will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Caine throws a right hand that Howser ducks under and follows up with a left that Howser also avoids with ease.
Caine lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Caine takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Howser misses with a body shot.
Caine doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Howser counters with a single leg into guard. Caine didn't expect that.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Howser cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Caine has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Howser is working away from the top position though.

Caine wants to sweep but no luck.
Caine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Caine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Howser does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Howser, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
