PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eddie House (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rice has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie House!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Rice!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rice swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Rice shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rice showed some decent athleticism there.
House on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Rice controlling the action here.
House trying to control here.
Rice trying to control the pace.
Rice wants to pass to mount but House is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. House defending well though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

House is trying to stand up here but Rice is controlling him well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rice swings for the body but House moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from House.
House moves in looking to clinch but Rice pushes him off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rice misses with a wild body shot.
Rice tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but House was well out of range. Poor timing from Rice.

House throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rice decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in House's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
House is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
House can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rice controls the pace.
House controls Rice momentarily but Rice frees himself.

Rice trying to control the position from guard on top but House is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rice is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Rice wants to stand and escape but instead House has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
House throws a strike but Rice rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rice is stalling in the full guard.
House is trying to control the position from the bottom.

House kicks Rice off and gets to his feet.

House has Rice up against the cage in a clinch.
House misses with a short punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rice looks to land a combination but House avoids it well.
Rice is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Rice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

House takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
A lull in the action here as Rice stalls from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rice trying to control the action but House is working from the bottom.

Rice decides to stand back up. Rice steps back and let's House get back to his feet.
Rice gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and House counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rice throws a half hearted mid kick.

House takes the fight into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rice.
Rice blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

House pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rice.
Steve Rice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
House swinging wildly here.

Rice scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Rice misses with the combination.

Rice feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
House is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Steve Rice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Rice lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rice misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rice throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around House's waist but House gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rice off to one side.
House misses with a hook. Rice ducked under it nicely.
House pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rice looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rice throws a leg kick
and House cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
House tries to clinch but Rice is having none of it.
House swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
House slips under a jab.
House throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rice counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for House!
Rice trying to control but House is having none of it.

House wants to hold on but Rice pushes him away.
Rice misses with a head shot.
Rice can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as House is looking to escape.
House sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
House has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rice is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rice working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on House's thigh. House counters though and makes it back to full guard.
House keeping moving, preventing Rice from controlling successfully.
House utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
House has his hands on Rice's head, controlling the position.
Steve Rice has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rice stands up and waves to House to follow him.
Steve Rice is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rice misses with a body kick.
Rice throws a combination that misses
and House counters with a left and a right that stings Rice.
Rice fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A bone on bone clash there as Rice blocks the leg kick.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rice scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Eddie House is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rice closes this distance looking for a takedown but House circles away.
A bone on bone clash there as House blocks the leg kick.
Rice scores with a jab to the jaw.

Steve Rice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rice winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
