Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Schoonie Singleton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Russel!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Singleton finds it's way through Russel's defenses.
Russel tries to close the distance and clinch but Singleton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Russel shoots in looking for a takedown. Singleton tries to sprawl out of it but Russel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Singleton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Russel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Singleton as he jumps to the side.
Russel moves forwards but Singleton connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Russel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Schoonie Singleton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Russel.

Singleton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Singleton swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Russel is now in Singleton's guard. A big mistake from Singleton there, giving up the dominant position!

Russel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Singleton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Russel, into his guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Singleton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Singleton blocks the strikes from Russel.
Russel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Russel misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Singleton is stalling here. Russel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Singleton seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Russel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Russel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Singleton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Singleton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Singleton!

Singleton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Russel is on top in guard.

Russel drops back looking for a leg! Singleton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Singleton manages to kick Russel off! Russel jumps back into Singleton's guard.

Russel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Russel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
