PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Felix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Engrle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stan Engrle!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Felix misses with a low kick.
A head kick misses from Engrle.
Felix takes a swing at Engrle's ribcage but misses.
Felix throws a body punch but Engrle moves out of range.
Engrle tries to clinch up.
Engrle lands a jab-cross combination.

It looks like Junior Felix has been cut.
Engrle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Engrle knocks Felix to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Felix being controlled for a moment.
Felix tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Engrle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

An elbow from Engrle crashes against the mat.
You can see the frustration on Felix's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Engrle working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Engrle working the ground and pound but Felix is defending the strikes.
Felix sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Engrle prevents Felix from improving his position.

Engrle is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Engrle trying to control from Felix's half guard. Felix has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Felix manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Felix is landing with some decent strikes but Engrle is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

It looks like Stan Engrle has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Felix tries to control but Engrle wriggling away.
Felix lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Engrle dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Engrle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That has opened up Stan Engrle's cut even more.
Felix connects with a solid leg kick.
Engrle blocks a leg kick.
Engrle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Engrle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Felix moves away.
Engrle throws a right hand that Felix ducks under and follows up with a left that Felix also avoids with ease.
Felix misses with a double jab.
Engrle misses with a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Felix or perhaps it was just good defense by Engrle which made him look bad.
Junior Felix is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No joy there for Engrle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Engrle. Felix does a little dance to reset his feet.

Engrle has Felix up against the cage in a clinch.
Engrle gets underhooks to prevent Felix's takedown attempt.

Felix pulls guard effortlessly.
Felix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Engrle controls the pace.

Felix looking to hit a scissor sweep but Engrle is one step ahead there.
Felix wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Engrle passes Felix's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Felix is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Felix is trying to maintain the position but Engrle is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Engrle in particular looking to stall.
Engrle wants to take a breather but Felix is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Felix is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Felix is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Engrle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Engrle's back!
Felix is striking well from the back but Engrle escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Felix not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Felix controlling the action here.
Felix seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Engrle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Junior Felix will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Engrle scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Felix blocks a head kick by Engrle.
Felix ducks under a wild hook from Engrle.
Engrle tries to clinch but Felix moves out of range.
Engrle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Engrle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Felix shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Engrle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Felix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Felix pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Engrle tries to hold on but Felix postures up.
Engrle blocking the ground and pound.
Felix is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Engrle can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The cut above Stan Engrle's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Stan Engrle's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Junior Felix!
