Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Baeumer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoko Wakari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoko Wakari is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Baeumer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Yoko Wakari!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baeumer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Baeumer closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Yoko Wakari has been cut.

Wakari rushes Baeumer and presses him up against the cage.

Wakari wants the takedown. Baeumer is fighting it off but Wakari persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Baeumer's guard against the cage.
Baeumer could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wakari stands up and waves to Baeumer to follow him.

Wakari gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Baeumer prevents the takedown attempt.
Baeumer is looking to break free of the clinch but Wakari has double underhooks.
A right handed body shot lands from Baeumer.

Wakari breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wakari is looking to clinch but Baeumer is avoiding it.
A punch lands to the side of Wakari 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Wakari gets a clinch.

Wakari has picked Baeumer up - he's going for a ride! Wakari dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Baeumer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wakari is working away from the top position though.
Wakari thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Baeumer is trying to get back to full guard.
Baeumer is trying to stand.

Wakari sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Baeumer defending well though.
Baeumer is positioning himself well to prevent Wakari advancing to mount.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Baeumer!

Wakari tries to keep at a distance but Baeumer has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wakari tries to pull guard but Baeumer holds him up against the cage and eventually Wakari drops back down to his feet.
Baeumer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Wakari is working for takedown but Baeumer is calmly controlling the position for now.
Paul Baeumer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoko Wakari.

Baeumer gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Baeumer wants to control from the top but Wakari keeps moving.
Baeumer looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Wakari throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Wakari has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wakari bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Baeumer's guard.
Baeumer wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baeumer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wakari is controlling him.

Wakari postures up in Baeumer's guard and throws a big left but Baeumer blocks it.
Wakari postures up and lands a big shot to Baeumer's brow.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wakari avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Baeumer is looking to clinch.
Wakari misses with a head kick.
A nice combination there by Baeumer.
Baeumer throws a series of punches but Wakari moves out of range.

The fighters circling - Baeumer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Baeumer throws a lazy right hand but Wakari sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Baeumer throws a right and a left that Wakari avoids nicely.

Wakari closes the distance and clinches.

Wakari escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wakari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Baeumer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wakari changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Wakari is looking to slow Baeumer down with leg kicks.

Wakari shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wakari was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wakari lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Baeumer regains half guard.
Baeumer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Baeumer wants to sweep but no luck.
Wakari postures up in Baeumer's guard and throws a big left but Baeumer blocks it.
Baeumer wants to stand up but Wakari is controlling him.
Wakari trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Baeumer manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baeumer wanted to stand there but Wakari had control of the position.
Wakari tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Baeumer will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Yoko Wakari's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Baeumer swats away the attempt to clinch by Wakari.
Baeumer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wakari counters with a nice body kick.
Baeumer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wakari counters with a series of strikes. Baeumer will be more careful next time no doubt.

Wakari fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Baeumer, pushing him back against the cage.

Wakari escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wakari lands a nice leg kick that just misses Baeumer's sensitive parts.
Baeumer falls off balance throwing a combination

and Wakari counters with a nice double leg into side control. Baeumer won't be happy with that.
A lull in the action here as Wakari stalls from top position.
Wakari lands an elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wakari wants to control but Baeumer is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wakari tries to advance to mount but Baeumer denies him.
Wakari controls the position from side control.
Wakari creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Baeumer sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Baeumer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wakari asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baeumer isn't going anywhere.
Baeumer tries to escape but Wakari is in control.
Wakari tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Wakari counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

and Baeumer counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Baeumer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wakari moves away.
Baeumer lands a two punch combo.
Baeumer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wakari paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wakari looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Baeumer is fending him off so far but Wakari persists. Nope, Baeumer circles away and we're back to standing.
Wakari lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Wakari shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A low kick from Baeumer misses
and Wakari counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Baeumer is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Wakari closes the distance and clinches up with Baeumer, looking for a takedown. Wakari pushes Baeumer against the cage but Baeumer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wakari accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wakari throws a head kick that misses.
Baeumer with a nice cross.
Nice takedown defense from Wakari. No joy for Baeumer on that attempt.

and Baeumer counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Wakari! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Baeumer!
