PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Tsunami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Harnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsunami kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Remember Me by Hoobastank. Harnett is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: on the busses film tune . Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam Harnett!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harnett drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Tsunami is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Harnett wants to control but Tsunami is keeping him busy.
Harnett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Harnett tries to advance to mount but can't.
Tsunami dodges the ground and pound from Harnett.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tsunami is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Harnett's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Tsunami makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Tsunami looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Tsunami counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Tsunami decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Harnett wants to control from the top but Tsunami keeps moving.

Tsunami throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Harnett landing some decent shots from guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Tsunami closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Harnett to the mat! Harnett manages to get full guard.
Harnett is trying to control the position but Tsunami postures up.

Tsunami decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Harnett, up you get!

Harnett closes the distance and clinches.

Harnett breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Harnett clinches up with Tsunami and pushes him back against the cage.

Harnett wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tsunami has him pressed against the cage.
Harnett prevents the takedown attempt.

Harnett escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tsunami gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Harnett stands up and waves to Tsunami to follow him.
Harnett fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Tsunami counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tsunami looking to sit in guard and control but Harnett gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Tsunami dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Harnett misses with a kick to the body.

Tsunami closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Harnett pushes Tsunami off and gets back to his feet.

Tsunami bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
James Tsunami overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tsunami stands up and beckons Harnett to his feet.
Harnett tries a head kick but it misses.
Tsunami closes this distance looking for a takedown but Harnett circles away.

Tsunami shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Harnett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tsunami's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tsunami has his foot on Harnett's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harnett works his way back into a safe position though.

Tsunami manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Harnett tries to clinch but Tsunami moves out of range.

Harnett manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Harnett looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Harnett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Harnett lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Tsunami stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harnett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tsunami tries to bum rush Harnett with a series of wild strikes but Harnett uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tsunami throws a sloppy head kick and Harnett moves out of range easily.

Tsunami shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tsunami was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Harnett manages to regain half guard. Good work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harnett tries to roll over but Tsunami keeps him under control.

James Tsunami showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tsunami, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
