The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malloy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Slater misses with a few strikes there.
Slater tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Malloy was well out of range. Poor timing from Slater.
Malloy tries to clinch there but Slater circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Malloy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Slater throws a big shot that misses.
A head kick misses from Malloy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Malloy manages to break the clinch.

Malloy clinches up against the cage.
Malloy tries to land a knee to the head but Slater blocks with his arms.
Malloy tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Slater is trying to force a seperation but Malloy has the dominant position.

Malloy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malloy moves out of range of the strikes.
Malloy pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Slater lands a left and a right that send Malloy crashing to the mat, dazed. Slater thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Malloy is rocked!

It looks like James Malloy has been cut.
Malloy is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slater closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Malloy out cold! Malloy corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
