The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riley misses with a body shot.
Riley just misses with a punch to the body.
Genetia throws a low kick but Riley avoids it.
Riley chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Genetia can pounce on him.
Genetia throws a push kick but Riley slaps the foot to one side.
Genetia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Riley takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Genetia moves out of range as Riley strikes.
Genetia misses with a low kick as Riley jumps back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riley catches Genetia with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Genetia bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Riley's head backwards.

Genetia throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Riley.
Riley takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Riley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Genetia tries to avoid it but Riley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Genetia to the ground. Genetia escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for CJ Riley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Riley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Genetia cracks Riley with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Riley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Genetia.

Genetia feints and then cracks Riley's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Riley down.
Riley stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Genetia.

Genetia has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Riley is proving hard to escape from.

Riley pulls Genetia in close to prevent any damage.
Genetia wants to stand but Riley has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Riley is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Genetia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Genetia throws a strike but Riley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riley throws a chopping leg kick but Genetia manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Riley feints and as Genetia raises his hands in defense, Riley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Riley wants to control from the top but Genetia keeps moving.
Genetia looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Riley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Joliver Genetia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Genetia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Riley does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Well Genetia has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
