The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyko fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
CQ tries to clinch up but Boyko circles away and keeps his distance.

Boyko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Boyko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
CQ is looking to get to half guard.

Boyko goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now CQ is on top in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Boyko holds on and takes a little breather.
CQ wants to control from the top but Boyko keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boyko looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
CQ trying to control but Boyko is working from the bottom.
CQ wanted to stand there but Boyko had control of the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Boyko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in CQ's guard.
Boyko wants to pass the guard but CQ is keeping the position.

CQ can't do much from the bottom here.

Boyko is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
CQ is looking for a sweep.
CQ is breathing heavily.
Boyko trying to control the action but CQ is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
CQ tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Boyko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Boyko working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Boyko thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Boyko lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
CQ knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boyko on the ground.

Boyko's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Boyko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. CQ knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Boyko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by CQ, who protects the arm well.

Boyko has an Americana. CQ didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Boyko is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Boyko hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
