Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ricardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ricardo's choice of entrance music: Bang the Drum All Day. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Ricardo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ricardo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ricardo stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ricardo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ricardo showed some decent athleticism there.

Hawkins is pushing Ricardo's head away, looking to escape. Ricardo manages to hold on to the position though.

Ricardo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hawkins manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ricardo wants to free his trapped foot but Hawkins is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ricardo drops his hands momentarily and Hawkins takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ricardo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawkins circles away quickly and effectively.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ricardo looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hawkins has hold of Ricardo's hands but Ricardo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ricardo stops Hawkins from getting back to his feet.
Ricardo winds up and cracks Hawkins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ricardo connects with a nice short shot to Hawkins's temple.

A lull in the action here as Ricardo stalls from top position.
Let's hope that Ricardo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hawkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ricardo on the ground.

David Ricardo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hawkins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

David Ricardo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hawkins is in a horrible position here. Ricardo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ricardo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ricardo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hawkins looks a forlorn figure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
